Maintenance and restoration of laminate flooring

0

Laminate flooring is a flooring solution that gives your home or office a unique look. These floors are durable and do not tolerate stains. It is easy to clean and maintain using the right cleaning agents and laminate methods.

Here are some general floor cleaning tips for these types of floors:

  • Sweeping

Sweep laminate floors daily with a soft bristle brush. This will prevent scratches.

  • Vacuum cleaner

It is advisable and important to vacuum the laminate floor regularly to remove dust and dirt. Dust contains abrasives that can cause scratches.

  • Wet mopping

It is recommended to use a damp mop once a week or less to clean the laminate floor. You can use a soft microfiber mop. Always wipe the floorboard lines. Dry and clean the floor with soft microfiber mops. Use only a wet mop, water can damage the laminate floor. Only the recommended laminate cleaners should be used to clean floors.

What to avoid?

You should not use wax, polish or vegetable oil-based polish or detergent, grinding wheel, or steel wool to polish or clean the laminate floor. These products can damage the floor surface. Also avoid using cleaning agents such as vinegar, ammonia, or chlorinated floor cleaning solutions. Vinegar is sour. It eats, is opaque, and removes the topcoat each time it is used. Likewise, ammonia and chlorine can damage the top layer of floors. Do not wash or soak the floor with soap, detergent, or water. This may cause deformation, swelling, delamination, and opening of joints and holes.

Clean up spilled liquid and stains:

If liquid leaks onto the floor, it must be cleaned immediately. It can contaminate the floor or get into seams. Use a soft cloth or paper towel to soothe and wipe off any leaks. Clean the area with a damp cloth with a laminate cleaner. Neutral cleaner, nail polish remover, or acetone can remove oil, permanent markers, or paint stains.

You can use hot water with or without a neutral cleaner to remove stains from juice, beer, sauce, tea, coffee, or gravy. It is better to use a deep cleaner on laminate floors. Substances such as chewing gum or wax must first be ground on ice and then spread well. You can clean the area with hot water or a deep cleaner. However, water should only be used if the laminate floor is sealed.

Using the right laminate cleaners:

The floors were not sealed mostly with seams. Using damp mops or washing with water can cause moisture to penetrate the laminate and damage it. It is advisable to use the correct laminate cleaners recommended by your floor manufacturer. There are various products such as deep cleaners, cleaners, and restoration products from well-known manufacturers. These products are specially made for laminate floors.

A common cleaner can occasionally be used after wiping and vacuuming to moisten the floor and remove dirt, grime, and footprints and lighten with a microfiber mop. It leaves no residue or smudges.

You can use Deep Cleaner if your laminate floor gets dirty and heavily soiled. Instructions for using laminate cleaners are included.

Restore:

As the laminate floor ages, it wears scratches, abrasions, and signs of wear. You can turn it on again to increase the gloss and protect it from moisture. To maintain the floor, you must clean and use a restorer.
